A reformed investment banker, Mark has spent over eight years at Wood Mackenzie covering oil sands, offshore Atlantic Canada and Canadian unconventional plays. While most of his time is spent expanding and updating our research coverage, he has also supported consulting projects to advise on royalty frameworks and corporate strategies. He has authored 25+ research notes and has been quoted in publications including the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times. Mark manages a Calgary-based team of six analysts that focuses entirely on Canadian plays and projects.
Mark has extensively covered the oil sands and Canadian unconventional sectors, having released detailed reports on technical resources, corporate benchmarking, completion technologies and production outlooks. This requires building research relationships with a wide mix of experts in operating and midstream companies, financiers and government entities. His work also brings him in frequent contact with Wood Mackenzie’s many internal experts on everything from LNG to fuel demand to renewables.
Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Mark worked at Kenmont Capital Partners (an energy-focused hedge fund), Sanders Morris Harris Investment Bank and the Dallas auditing arm of KPMG. Mark holds a Masters in Finance and Bachelors in Accounting from the Texas A&M University and is qualified as a CPA in the US.
